Job Summary

The Senior Sales Applications Engineer will report to the Director, Applications Engineer located in Hudson Massachusetts. The Applications Engineering group within ESS will create project designs consisting of an appropriate combination of ABS products to meet the customer’s project requirements. The SR Applications Engineer will be responsible for the development of customer project designs, as necessary to keep up with the sales demand. The AE Sr Engineer will also interface with the sales team, customers, engineering, and the CTO office as the AE group is the bridge between customer requirements, engineering specifications, battery performance, today’s sales proposals, and future product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Review customer project requirements.
• Configure project designs to meet them.
• Develop the design package that can be presented to the customer and can be used to create a project commercial proposal.
• Understand ABS product specifications capabilities and limitations.
• Build and maintain tools to calculate, configure and present project designs.
• Support the AE team to meet the workload.
• Interface with engineering and CTO office to influence future product capabilities to meet trends in customer applications.
• Exhibit excellent product and application knowledge to align the customer’s requirements with the American Battery Solutions Energy Storage Systems (ABS ESS) benefits of a safe, long-lasting energy storage solution for peak shifting/shaving, long-duration dispatch, ancillary services, and renewable firming/smoothing.
• Provide best-in-class technical pre-sales expertise to help customers obtain the maximum amount of revenue value from their energy storage applications.
• Support sales management and account managers, the business development, and internal technical staff, prepare technical responses to customer RFQ / RFPs.
• Ensure a successful and appropriate handover of customer orders to project management.
• Be the liaison between customers and the ABS ESS technical team to obtain feedback on product performance, quality, documentation, and overall customer satisfaction.
• Foster technical champions at key accounts while being responsive, consistent, and supportive of the overall market to help convert an ever-growing pipeline into revenue.
• Follow procedures, tools, and best practices to enable the technical pre-sales organization to scale effectively while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Collect and communicate regional and global industry best practices and maintain a competitive analysis for leading battery technologies and companies.
• Ability to manage priorities and be flexible as the company experiences significant growth requiring teaming, excellent communications and individual contributions as required.
• Assist with product manuals and data sheets as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Predictable and reliable attendance.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Energy, Power, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Grid Scale Energy Storage in an engineering or sales engineering role.
